Pilot ranking

A better system

A problem with our previous system for counting flight hours was that pilots chose long hauls at a far higher rate than shorter flights. In order to address this, we chose differentiate flight hours and experience points (abbreviated to "XP").

These XP points are calculated using the formula

100×FH0.64

where FH stands for flight hours. For example, a flight for 10 hours with no multiplier gives 437 XP while a flight for 5 hours gives 280 XP. So even though you double the flight time, the XP only increases by about 56%.
